Perfect Alloys Limited, situated in Chengannur, centrally placed half way between Trivandrum the capital, and Cochin the industrial capital of Kerala, India, have purchased a MOCO Quad-Shear AZ13, 4 shaft shredder for processing of passenger and commercial lead acid batteries.
The unique cutter and screen configuration of the AZ13 allows for the whole batteries to be shredded without the need for any ram assist. The batteries self-feed once in the cutting chamber and then the cutting and screen action allows the batteries to be sized reduced whereby separation and liberation takes place for ease of downstream processing.
The Quad shredder supplied by ISS, Industrial Shredding Systems Limited to Perfect Alloys is the MOCO AZ13, 4 shaft shredder, which features a cutting chamber of 760mm wide x 600mm long and 2 x 18.5kW drive motors respectively. All wear and exposed components are manufactured from Stainless Steel to eliminate the corrosive effects of the lead acid residue. Extensive factory testing was undertaken and several visits were made by the owners of Perfect Alloys to ensure that the equipment met all the requirements specified.
The Perfect Alloys production plant uses state of the art technology with the most modern rotary furnace equipped with an automatic furnace charger and a pulse jet pollution control system, to satisfactorily increase production capacity while caring for the environment. Perfect Alloys are the only recyclers in the Kerala state to have adopted this most advanced pollution control technology and currently have a minimum production capacity of 225 MT of Lead of the highest quality each month.
Battery recycling is not only the cheapest source of lead; it also helps to preserve natural resources and to safeguard the environment. Battery recycling or hazardous waste recycling requires the compliance of various environmental agencies and needs to be carried out in a controlled manner. Initially there were numerous lead re-cyclers operating in India using crude and conventional recovery methods. The application of stringent pollution board norms have forced many to close down their operations.
The addition of the battery recycling system further endorses the company’s commitment to innovation and “future-proof” technology. |
